I had the pleasure to be part of the jury for the Rimowa Design Prize 2025. As a mentor, I accompanied Jonas Krämer (Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen) and his project “Compath”. His smart wearable supports people with dementia in navigating everyday life safely – with reminders, orientation aids, and an emergency system.
The Rimowa Design Prize focuses on the theme of mobility. This was a central criterion in my selection of a mentee. I was interested in how mobility can be understood in completely new and different ways. Who is the invention aimed at? How can it provide individual freedom to people who are structurally marginalized or who fall outside normative ideas of “higher, faster, further”?
The Rimowa Design Prize was awarded on May 13 at the Gropius Bau in Berlin. Find more information here.
